About the Presenters

Conor Chell recently joined MLT Aikins from Suncor Energy Inc. (Canada’s largest integrated energy company), where he was Director of Central Environment and Regulatory and dealt directly with numerous ESG issues over the past decade. He played an integral role in developing Suncor’s global ESG strategy, including the development of Suncor’s Report on Sustainability, and he conducted extensive research on ESG global best practices. Conor also recently obtained a Certificate in Sustainable Capitalism and ESG from the UC Berkeley School of Law. Prior to joining Suncor, Conor practised exclusively as an environmental and regulatory lawyer at a large national law firm.

Prior to joining MLT Aikins, Samina Ullah implemented a compliance program as in-house counsel for a global nuclear energy and mining company. Her work included drafting policies and reporting procedures on third-party due diligence, whistleblowing, conflicts of interest, anti-corruption and community engagement. She has also facilitated internal compliance audits for the French anti-corruption agency and reporting for the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative (EITI). Samina is very familiar with international best practices on compliance, having authored a report on business integrity for an international organization.
